Establishment grants are intended to allow recently recruited faculty members in the Province of Manitoba to focus on research and to establish their research programs.

These awards will provide up to $100,000 to be used within a three year period, subject to Council approval, for a variety of purposes such as the purchase of equipment and supplies, buy-out of teaching time, and salaries of research personnel (other than the applicant's salary), etc.

Council will only consider applications for Establishment grants from individuals who have held an academic appointment at the level of Assistant Professor or above in the Province of Manitoba for not more than 4 years.

Applications for Establishment grants are to be made on the 2012 Manitoba Health Research Council Establishment Grant electronic application form and includes the submission of a Common CV. A signed hardcopy of the application must also be submitted to the MHRC (dropped off at the office or postmarked by the application deadline date).

  • Must hold an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (or equivalent) or above in Manitoba, with appropriate salary that is secure for a minimum period of three years from the start date of the award.
